India is a vast country covering a large number of unique ecosystems and topography. Northern India in particular has vast river –fed plains and extensive lush green valleys. The valleys are situated in the Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir. These valleys are full of vast reservoir of flora and fauna. A large human populace also inhabits these splendid valleys.
First of all, Kashmir valley in the state of J& K is a great place worth repeated visits. It is full of beautiful places lakes, birds, Wildlife. Srinagar is the main town of the world famous Kashmir valley. Impressed by its eternal and unmatched beauty it was named as ‘paradise on earth by poets. Srinagar has beautiful places like picturesque Shankaracharya temple overlooking Dal lake, Historical Hazrat bal mosque, Mughal era gardens. Dal lake is very popular among the tourists particularly its boats-Shikaras. There are splendid destinations from Srinagar town like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, famous Amarnath Yatra and numerous other places. Ladakh district of J& K state has very beautifully located valleys like Suru valley, Nubra valley which are beautiful beyond human comprehension. These valleys are very remote and support a unique ecology. One has to cross tough and worlds highest passes to visit these paradise on earth. These valleys offer splendid trekking routes, high-altitude lakes and high-altitude wildlife species.
Himachal Pradesh also has a large number of amazingly beautiful and isolated valleys in almost all of its parts. It has picturesque Kangra valley famous for religious temples like Jwalaji, Brijeshwari temples, Chamunda devi and other temples. It has places like splendid Palampur-famous for tea plantations, Dharamshala-famous for Dhauladhar ranges, its unpredictable weather-it has second highest rainfall in the world and Mcleodganj famous for Tibetan guru-Dalai lama. Sangla valley in Kinnaur district is a fabulous place worth numerous visits. It has beautiful Kinnaur -Kailash range towering over it and a serene Baspa,a tributary of Satluj flowing in it territory. It has vast expanse of apple orchards, kamru fort, trekking routes, a very beautiful place-Chitkul and so many other options.
Another well known valley is Kullu valley which is named as valley of gods. It is fed by Beas river and its tributaries and has beautiful places like Manali, Manikaran, Marhi, Rohtang pass, Jalori pass, Lakes like Brighu, Dashair, Seruvalsar which are beautifully situated lakes .It has sub-valleys like Tirthan valley, Fozal valley. One very unique valley is Pangi valley in the Chamba district. It is a very remote valley and has very beautiful places, passes, sub-valleys, lakes, trekking routes, wildlife creatures. Spiti is another splendid valley of Himachal Pradesh on the river Spiti.
Similarly state of Uttarakhand has valleys like Sundardunga which are worth visits. All these lush valleys are full of nature’s grandness, unique flora and fauna, cultivated plains, high-altitude lakes in their periphery, snow-clad mountains in their backdrop. Explore these heavens on earth.
