Snowfall In Kedarnath Heli Service Closed
On Wednesday 6000 pilgrims in Kedarnath were sent back to Sonprayag, after completing their rituals, using the walkways, due to the worsening weather conditions. Several pilgrims had already made their way to Bhimbali and Jungle chatty. Kedarnath experienced heavy snowfall after 3 o clock in the afternoon. The snowfall carried on for almost an hour after which there was slight change in the weather, although the snowfall continued regular intervals.
On Wednesday the weather in Dham was clear since beginning. Early in the morning at 6 am and a substantial change in the weather was felt after the sun came out. During this time the temple here and Kedarpuri saw some change in the weather patterns and the temperature was pleasantly rising. Seeing the positive change in the weather, 9048 pilgrims left for the temple through the walking path ways from Sonprayag, out of which most number of them reached their destination by 11 o clock. There was a long line of devotees waiting for their Darshan at the baba Kedar Mandir.
Observing the weather, the temple authorities along with the police officials helped the devotees and pilgrims to complete their Darshan comfortably. The weather took a complete turn at 1:15 in the afternoon and light rains were started, seeing this police official started sending the devotees and visitors on their way back to the walkways. 6 thousand visitors reached Sonprayag safe and sound. Due to heavy rainfall and snowfall the officials briefly shut down the Yatra at Lincholi, Bhimbali and jungle Chatti.
Heli services shut down post 3 o clock
On the dark intense clouds were gathering and extreme snowfall started immediately which lasted for an hour. After an hour light snowfall still continued. Observing the weather condition at around 3 o clock almost 6,000 devotees were sent back to Sonprayag. Around 450 devotees, who had gathered there for offering their prayers early in the morning, were sent back after their rites and rituals were completed. Seeing the harshening weather conditions devotees are being sent directly back. It is being tried that the number of people visiting the Dham should be kept at a minimum.
On Wednesday afternoon, after 3 o clock, the helicopter services in Kedarnath and Kedar Ghati were halted due the misty and cloudy weather. The heli services companies located at Guptkashi, Narayankoti, Phata and Shersi were briefly shut down and the officials were waiting for the weather to clear out. The heli services were also halted for the previous whole day of Tuesday. In two days’ time the heli services has been serviceable for just 10 hours.
8,000 devotees performed rituals in Badrinath
Badrinath experienced moderate temperatures on Wednesday. Around 8000 devotees performed their Darshan. Till now, around 1,19,991 devotees have paid their respects in Badrinath. Although the sky remained covered with heavy clouds in the afternoon, it did not rain. The temperature in the Dham dropped due to the snowfall which had occurred the day before with the maximum temperature touching to 10 and the minimum temperature dropping to as low as 4 degree Celsius.
The Kedarnath Yatra is being taken care of with the help of officials and the temple administration. Although the unpredictable weather is creating some amount of hassle the officials are still lending a helping hand to the devotees from Sonprayag to Kedarnath. Along with helping in completing their rituals at the Dham the officials have also taken care of their food and stay facilities.
